This painting is a snap shot of 2020 for me. From the recent Lockdown Series, Social Distancing was painted during Covid-19. The work was impacted by the time of being locked down with my family and a sense of a dark cloud over the world. The vessels are spread out, with equal distance, the colours are calm. I never paint the vessels like this and it made me feel uncomfortable to not overlap them. After several drawings and sketches, I decided the shadows couldn't overlap either- hence the lighting direction.
